In a retirement income plan all investments should initially have a purpose and a timeframe. The outcome we want in retirement is income, so money is either being spent or is invested so it can be turned into income in the future, or left to the next generation to spend. Once we know the purpose, the time frame and your attitude towards risk we can recommend appropriate investments, whether one of our ETF-based portfolios or other investment options. For example, the money you will need in five years should be invested differently than the money you need now, or money you will need in ten or twenty years. We want to take advantage of each investment’s strengths while we minimize overall risk. A strategic income plan is the foundation of our investment recommendations.
